Athos Santos is the Director of Operations Safety Manager and pilot at Central American Airways Flying Services, bringing over three decades of extensive aviation expertise to his role.

With a career spanning 36 years, Athos has pursued continuous professional development, completing six specialization courses and earning MBAs. He has served as a Safety Officer since 1995 and as an auditor since 2000, including certification as an IS-BAO auditor internationally. Additionally, he has been a respected university professor in South Brazil since 2000.

Athos began his career in the Brazilian Air Force, where he held roles as a Pilot, Safety Officer, and researcher. His civilian career includes positions such as SMS Manager and pilot in operations governed by Part 135 and Part 121 regulations, as well as an auditor of maintenance assurance under Part 121. He has been instrumental in implementing certification for Part 91 operators and has held pivotal roles as a Pilot and Safety Officer at Embraer.

Athos has contributed to the success of 12 start-ups globally and has conducted accident investigations in accordance with ICAO Annex 13, notably investigating the Embraer 190 accident in China on August 24, 2010.

Athos Santos has extensive experience across Part 91, 135, and 121 operations, logging more than 12,000 flight hours throughout his distinguished career.
